BMW X5: Removing And Installing Outer Fold Adapter

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screw.

Release screw (1).

Unclip trim (2) at top.

Carefully tighten follower (2) on seat cushion frame.

Feed trim (2) out of seat mechanism.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING OUTER FOLD TRIM

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Trim, fold, inner:

Release screw (2).

Tightening torque: 52 26 25AZ.

Pull off release handle (1).

Release screw.

Only for seat backrest frame, left (60 %):

Push on locking clip (1).

Pull off ball socket.

Installation:

Gas-filled strut (1) is under tension.

Lever ball socket with screwdriver on pin.

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque: 52 26 27AZ.

Carefully tighten follower (2) on seat cushion frame.

Feed trim (1) out of seat mechanism.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING OUTER FOLLOWER TRIM

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Trim, follower, outer:

Release screw.

Unclip trim (1) in direction of arrow and remove.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING OUTER SLIDE TRIM

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Trim, slide:

Carefully unclip trim (1) at top and bottom.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING PIVOT BEARING LOWER SECTION TRIM (40 % REAR SEAT)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screw (1).

Release screw (1).

Disengage trim (2) in marked area.

Feed trim (2) out of seat mechanism.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING PIVOT BEARING TRIM (40 % REAR SEAT)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Release screw (1).

Release screw (1).

Tightening torque: 52 26 27AZ.

Unclip trim (2) in marked area.

Carefully tighten follower (3) on seat cushion frame.

Feed trim (2) out of seat mechanism.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING RELEASE UNIT TRIM

Access to screw (1) behind release lever.

Release screw (1).

Unclip trim towards top.

Installation:

Retaining lugs must not be damaged.

If necessary, replace trim.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING SEAT SCREW FASTENING TRIM

Unclip trim (1) on left and right in direction of arrow.

Installation:

Replace faulty cover.

Release screw (1).

Remove trim (2) in direction of arrow.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING BOWDEN CABLE FOR LEFT OR RIGHT SEAT BACK RELEASE

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unclip Bowden cable sleeve.

Unclip Bowden cable sleeve from backrest frame.

Disengage Bowden cable nipple.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING CF MICROSWITCH

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

Unlock microswitch (1) with screwdriver (2) and remove towards top.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FOLD MICROSWITCH

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unclip microswitch (1) from seat backrest frame.

Installation:

Make sure contact sensor (2) is fitted correctly on pin (1).

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING GAS-FILLED STRUT ON LEFT REAR SEAT

Slide retaining clips (1) upwards.

Detach ball sockets at sides.

Installation:

Gas-filled strut (1) is under tension.

Lever ball socket with screwdriver on pin.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT EASY ENTRY BOWDEN CABLE

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unclip Bowden cable sleeve.

Feed Bowden cable nipple out of actuating mechanism.

Unclip Bowden cable sleeve.

Feed Bowden cable nipple out of release unit.

Cut open cable tie (1).

Installation:

If necessary, replace faulty cable ties (1).

Unclip Bowden cable from metal retainer.

Feed Bowden cable out of seat backrest frame.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT EASY ENTRY DAMPER

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove toothed lock washers (1).

Installation:

Replace defective toothed lock washer.

Remove damper (2).

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING LEFT OR RIGHT LOCK MICROSWITCH

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Unclip left or right microswitch (1) from seat backrest frame.

Unfasten plug connection (1) and disconnect.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR HEAD RESTRAINT LOCATOR

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Press backrest cover with padding next to guide downwards to expose detent lugs.

Unlock detent lugs on left and right with screwdriver and remove guide towards top.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage backrest cover.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT HEAD RESTRAINT MOUNT (THROUGH-LOADING)

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Press backrest cover with padding next to guide downwards to expose detent lugs

Unlock detent lugs on left and right with screwdriver and remove guide towards top.

IMPORTANT: Do not damage backrest cover.
