IMPORTANT:
Disconnecting the vehicle battery will cancel the fault memories
of control
units. Consequently, before disconnecting the car's battery, always
interrogate the fault memories. Invest
REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING BATTERY POSITIVE LEAD
(BETWEEN STARTER, ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY POSITIVE TERMINAL)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Read out fault memory of DME control unit; if necessary, work through
test schedules.
Switch off ignition.
Disconnect battery negative lead.

IMPORTANT: Danger of scalding! Only perform this work after engine has
cooled down.
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Remove underbody protection.
Recycling
Transmission fluid emerges when oil lines are detached from heat exchanger.
Catch and dispose of escaping transmission fluid.
