BMW X5: Start/Stop button
Principle
Pressing the Start/Stop button
switches drive-ready state on or
off.
Drive readiness is switched on
when you depress the brake
pedal while pressing the Start/Stop button.
Pressing the Start/Stop button again switches
the drive-ready state back off and standby state
is switched back on.

Cooling System
The cooling system of the N54 engine consists of a radiator circuit and an
isolated oil cooling circuit. The fact
that there is an isolated oil-cooling circuit ensures that heat is not
introduced via the engine oil into the engine's
coolant system.

If a fault is diagnosed in the system, such as e.g. failure of the
high-pressure sensor, the fuel-supply control
valve is de-energized; the fuel then flows via a so-called bypass into the rail.
In the event of HPI limp-home mode, turbocharging is deactivated by an opening
of the wastegate valves.
