BMW X5: Removing And Installing/Replacing Both Seat Rails On Left Or Right
Front Seat (Normal/Electric)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front seat.
- Remove lower strap (belt tensioner).
- Remove drive unit for longitudinal seat adjustment.
WARNING: Read and comply with safety regulations for handling airbag
modules and
pyrotechnical belt tensioners.
Improper handling can lead to triggering of the pyrotechnical seat belt
pretensioner or side airbag, resulting in injuries.
Switch off ignition!
Unlock all plug connections and disconnect.

Press catches (1).
Slide adjusting unit (2) for active head restraint adjustment in direction of
arrow and remove.

Release left and right screws (1).
Tightening torque 52 10 6AZ.
Remove seat rails (4) with carrier plate (3).
Release fastening elements (2) on left and right.
Remove carrier plate (3).

Release screws (1).
Remove holder (2) for lower strap (belt tensioner).

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING SEAT FRAME ON LEFT OR RIGHT
FRONT SEAT (NORMAL/ELECTRIC)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove front seat.
- Remove backrest frame.
- Remove both seat rails on front seat.
- Remove seat cover for front seat.
Release fastening elements (1) on left and right.
Remove component (2) on left and right.
Remove complete seat wiring harness.

Installation:
When replacing backrest or seat frame, break off centring hooks (1) from seat
frame.

NOTE: The new seat frame part contains all the drives.
