Remove left underbody panelling.
Seal off water hoses at fuel pump with special tool 13 3 010

General information
To avoid locking the vehicle key in the vehicle,
do not place the vehicle key in the cargo area.
The following settings are available for the operation
of the tailgate with the vehicle key:
Whether the vehicle key opens only the upper
tailgate or the upper and lower
Starter Lead
REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING BATTERY POSITIVE LEAD
(BETWEEN STARTER, ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY POSITIVE TERMINAL)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Read out fault memory of DME control unit; if necessary, work through
test schedules.
Switch off ignition.
Disconnect battery negative lead.
