BMW X5: Removing And Installing All Ventilation Grilles On Centre Console

Version with rear cabin fan only:

Unclip ventilation grille (1).

Unclip operating unit (1).

Unclip lever (1) from operating unit.

Unclip air outlet grille (1) on left and right with plastic wedge.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING MIDDLE TRIM FOR 3RD SEAT ROW

Necessary preliminary tasks:

• Remove centre console.

Release screws (1).

Remove trim from assembly frame.

Installation:

Make sure guides are correctly seated in assembly frame.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING OUTER TRIM FOR 3RD SEAT ROW

Necessary preliminary tasks:

• Remove lashing rail in luggage compartment floor.

  Unclip trim (1) and remove from assembly frame.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT HEAD RESTRAINT GUIDE

Necessary preliminary tasks:

• Remove head restraint.

Press backrest cover with padding next to guide downwards to expose detent lugs.

Unlock detent lugs on left and right with screwdriver and remove guide towards top.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage! Tape off backrest cover next to head restraint guide.

REPLACING ASSEMBLY FRAME FOR 3RD SEAT ROW

Necessary preliminary tasks:

• Remove gap cover.
• Remove seat backrest frame on left and right.
• Remove centre lower strap fitting.
• Remove belt lock on left and right.
• If necessary, remove rear cabin fan.
• Remove control units for seat heating.

Overview of assembly frame

REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMPLETE 3RD SEAT ROW

Necessary preliminary tasks:

• Remove lashing rail in luggage compartment floor.
• Remove panel for luggage compartment at bottom.

Unclip cover (1) on left and right and remove in direction of arrow.

Installation:

Replace faulty cover.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 52 30 01AZ.

Access to front screw (2) concealed by trim (1).

Unclip trim (1) towards top.

Release screws (2) and (3).

Tightening torque 52 30 01AZ.

Fold rear seat backwards forwards.

Release screws (1).

Tightening torque 52 30 01AZ.

Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.

IMPORTANT: Risk of damage! Cover sill and entrance area with protective covers.

Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect. Important! Risk of damage! Cover sill and entrance area with protective covers. Lift rear seat with a 2nd person helping out of vehicle.
